Coach Jim Harbaugh to be named interim head coach of 49ers
Jim Harbaugh, the 49ers coach who guided them to the Super Bowl championship game last season, has been named interim coach for the team’s Week 11 matchup against the Denver Broncos.
He will be named the new head coach on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Harbaugh is the first man in NFL history to have a team lead a game at 2:45 p.t.
He is expected to be joined on the sidelines by new 49ers quarterback Connor Cook, who was the first-round pick of the Denver Eagles in the 2018 NFL draft.
Harbaugh was named interim coaches for two seasons under head coach Jim Harbaugh.
He has led the 49er organization to the postseason five times, including the NFC Championship Game in 2019.
The 49ers lost to the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIX.
