Laker Coach Parker says he’s not worried about Laker-Porzingis trade
Laker head coach Mike Brown says he hasn’t spoken with Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak about the potential trade of Pau Gasol to the Bucks.
Brown says he is comfortable with the Lakers front office.
But he wouldn’t say if he thinks the team is looking to trade Pau Gasols play or salary, as he did on Saturday when asked about the Pau Gaso situation.
Brown says the Lakers have no interest in trading Gasol and the Bucks are “not the type of team to be chasing Pau.”
Brown says his preference is for the Lakers to keep Pau Gasolo, but he’s “not ready to jump ship” just yet.
The Lakers were supposed to have Pau Gasoli for free this offseason, but they didn’t get him because of salary cap concerns.
Brown also said he was “very concerned” about the Lakers salary cap situation, and he would be open to discussing that with Kupchoks boss in Sacramento, Marc Stein.
Gasol was one of the best players in the league for the 2016-17 season, averaging 23.7 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.6 blocks in 35.4 minutes per game.
He was named the NBA Finals MVP after leading the Lakers in scoring with 22.5 points per game and shooting 53.5 percent from the field and 43.7 percent from three-point range.
The 26-year-old Gasol was the fifth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft and he is expected to become a free agent in the summer of 2021.
