How to be gay coach in 10 easy steps
The life coach industry is booming, with a recent survey revealing that there are now over 8.4 million licensed gay coaches, and many have been using the profession to coach others.
But what about the ones that are not?
How to get your coach license if you are gay?
And that’s what I want to talk about.
The first step to being a gay coach is having the right background.
There are two main reasons why this is important.
Firstly, many people have very negative associations with the gay community and do not want to admit it, so it is important to get that right before you take up coaching.
Secondly, there are many gay coaches that are working towards professional certification.
Being gay can make it easier for coaches to get into professional environments, and this is where things can get tricky.
This article is based on an interview with the head coach of the UK’s largest gay gay coaching association, GLBTIQ, and is adapted from his book, Gay Couples in the Profession (St. Martins).
For more information on gay coaches and coach certification see my book, Coach Certified, which is available at www.gbtIQ.org.
